Porsche Macan: base, S or GTS?
Three Macans, three engines. What each one gives you, from the 2018 base car to the 2021 GTS.
Every Macan of this generation has all-wheel drive and Porsche's 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. What changes from one model to the next is the engine, the chassis and how much comes as standard.
Macan
The Macan without a letter uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. In the 2018 car it is rated at 252 hp and 273 lb-ft, and Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, or 6.1 with the Sport Chrono package. It has the same body, cabin and all-wheel drive as the others, and it is the most economical of the three.
Macan S
The S adds a V6. For 2019 Porsche gave it a new 3.0-liter single-turbo V6 with 348 hp and 354 lb-ft, along with the update that brought the full-width LED light bar at the rear and a 10.9-inch touchscreen. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.
Macan GTS
The 2020 and 2021 GTS uses a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 rated at 375 hp and 383 lb-ft. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, or 4.5 with Sport Chrono, and a top track speed of 162 mph. A sport exhaust, air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management and GTS sport seats come with the trim.
Which one?
For a daily car where running costs matter, the base Macan does everything the others do, a little more slowly. For the sound and pace of a V6, the S. For the most driver-focused Macan short of the Turbo, with the chassis upgrades already fitted, the GTS.
Whichever you choose, look at the options. Many Macans were ordered with the Premium Package, the panoramic roof or Bose sound, and the original window sticker on each of our car pages lists every option and what it cost new.
